Stories from January 5, 2009 in the Service Wire
National Day of Service
With the new year, an important event is approaching-the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama on January 20th. In the days leading up to the inauguration, from Saturday, January 17 through Monday, January 19, Obama has called for citizens to volunteer in their communities through a National Day of Service. Excitingly, the American Red Cross has been invited to participate by registering volunteer events occurring during those days onto the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s website!
Change Begins With Me
Well, not really me. You. That is if you choose to participate in the Case Foundation’s fascinating new Change Begins With Me campaign. Here is how it works. You enter by completing the following, in 250 characters or less: “Change begins with me. I commit to…” All commitments, big and small, are welcome.
