Applications to AmeriCorps Increase, but a House Committee Doesn’t Come Through with Funding
While AmeriCorps applications are seeing a steep rise, the Corporation for National and Community Service is climbing an uphill battle for funding.

National Service Legislation Goes Back to the House for a Final Vote
Update, March 31, 2009: The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act is on its way to Pres. Obama’s desk to be signed into law.
According to Voices For National Service, the House could send the National Service Bill to President Obama this week.
Senate To Debate Serve America Bill Monday Afternoon
The Serve America Act — that will expand national service by leaps and bounds — will finally arrive for debate on the Senate floor Monday, March 23.
The office of Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) — who is managing the bill — says that the Serve America Act will go to the full Senate Monday likely at 3 p.m. EST. Debate could last days.
