When I first saw the headline “Will Millennials become the chump generation?” I was gearing up for another intergenerational throw down. I wasn’t exactly sure what we were being accused of this time, but last time I checked with Fred Durst, being called a chump was not a good thing.

So while the rest of my Florida friends are off to the beaches of the Caribbean or a cruise to party I decided to take a spontaneous trip back to my summer home of Washington DC with a friend for some fun. It’s beautiful weather for March, the snow is finally over and the sun was shining brightly today for our arrival! As a member of the National Youth Council and intern for the Red Cross in DC this past summer I’ve gotten a chance to know the city quite well.

When it comes to supporting funding for service on Capitol Hill it's important that our community stay engaged and continue to let our legislators know that we think full funding for the expansion of national service and volunteer service opportunities is critical to help address problems and provide meaningful work experience in a time of enormous economic challenges.
